Issued by the U.S. Mint to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the original Standing Liberty Quarter, the 2016-W 1/4 oz Gold Standing Liberty Centennial Coin revives Hermon A. MacNeil's iconic design in beautiful 24-karat gold.

Historical Insight:

The Standing Liberty Quarter was introduced in 1916, replacing the Barber Quarter. Its neoclassical style became a symbol of American strength and virtue. This centennial edition honors that legacy in gold, offering collectors and investors a tangible connection to numismatic history.

This special centennial issue captures the essence of the original 1916-1930 coinage but adds a modern twist—struck in .9999 fine gold and featuring a brilliant uncirculated (BU) finish. The coin was struck at the West Point Mint and comes with its original government packaging (OGP) and Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

Highlights:

  • Contains 1/4 troy ounce of .9999 fine (24-karat) gold
  • Obverse: Standing Liberty with a shield and olive branch, symbolizing defense and peace
  • Reverse: Eagle in flight surrounded by stars, echoing the original 1916 design
  • Struck at the West Point Mint — "W" mint mark
  • Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition
  • Official U.S. Mint release with box and Certificate of Authenticity (OGP & COA)
  • Limited mintage: Only 91,752 pieces struck
